Mangaluru : Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said he would accept the decision of Congress high command on the major changes expected during the impending Cabinet reshuffle.
He said that there might be reshuffle of the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government Cabinet shortly. It would bring in many changes in the Cabinet, he added.
The minister said the chief minister would convene a meeting of the Cabinet on June 15 to take a decision on the reshuffle. He said he would always remain loyal to the party’s decision in this regard.
Sorake said the support of JD(S) MLAs in the Upper House election played a decisive role and would be instrumental in the future political scenario. Seven or eight JD(S) MLAs with secular approach are waiting to join the party, he added.
The minister said the government took the decision of accepting the resignation of Kudligi DySP Anupama Shenoy as it was tendered during the police protest which created an emergency situation all over the state. No other officer had done it. Hence, the government has decided to accept it. It seems it is an intentionally-done act to lend support and express outrage in the midst of the prevailing confusion, he reiterated.
He said no one has approached him to convince the government and work in favor of the former police officer.
District Congress Committee President Gopal Poojary said that he would be prepared to accept the new role and deliver his best, if he is offered the ministerial berth.
He claimed that he has been working for the party for many years and is capable for the post. He added that he is also a four-time MLA. Pooajry said he has appealed the party high command about his desire. The high command has also assured that he would be recognised for his long, selfless service to the party.
He said if the high command does not offer him the ministerial post, he would be happy to remain as whatever he is at present. He also ruled out any possibilities of lobbying for the post.
