Udupi: Taking exception to Dr Ravindra Shanbhag’s decision not to accept Rajyotsava award, district minister Pramod Madhwaraj said that rejecting the award given by the state government reflects one’s attitude.
“Around 3,500 to 4,000 people apply for awards. When there are so many eligible candidates, it is not right to reject it. Although Shanbhag had not applied, the state government had chosen him for the award considering his contribution to society. “Kannada and culture minister Umashree had called me to tell about Shanbhag’s decision. I told her if he is not interested give it to someone else who values the award,” the minister said.
“I support his fight and demand, and his requests are genuine, However, he is in a hurry. Things in government level cannot happen within 24 hours, it needs its own time and verification. It is just that his timing and governments timing is not syncing with each other.” TNN
