Puttur : An accused of a minor girl rape attempt case has reportedly committed suicide on October 8.

The deceased identified as Iqbal Sadiq (27) resident of Malebettu in Koyyur village was facing charges of attempting rape on a minor at Ninnikallu in Belthangady taluk.

The incident had occurred on August 29 and locals had trapped him and had handed him over to the police.

Iqbal who was in prison was later released on bail. However, he was very depressed. It is learnt on Tuesday Sadiq and others had a clash with a person named Rafique. Following this Sadiq feared he would have to face another case and reportedly ended his life on Wednesday.

Belthangady police are investigating the case.
