Mangalore : After giving a short span of joy to the Pushparaj-Gowri couple, nine-day old baby breathes its last at a private hospital on August 24, Sunday.
Reportedly, Pushparaj-Gowri couple from Kumpala had delivered a premature baby o Aug 15 and was kept under observation in a private hospital in Deralakatte. On Aug 23 Saturday, the doctor in the hospital declared the baby as dead.
The tear filled parents who took the baby for the burial ground at Chembugudde saw the baby doing movements as they pour milk into its mouth before the burial as per Hindu tradition.
The parents, who couldn’t believe this, immediately rushed the baby to another private hospital with joy. But after some hours the child failed to respond to the treatment and died on Aug 24.
According to senior doctor Dr Raghuveer, of the private hospital in Deralakatte where the child was born denied any negligence committed by the junior doctor.
He said that the child was born with kidney failure. Although it was under observation in neonatal intensive care unit, it failed to respond to the treatment. Ut there was no hope of baby living for the long time and this matter was clearly stated to the parents and never declared that baby is dead while discharged after signing the necessary documents. The hospital had not given death certificate to the parents since it was alive, he added.
