Kaup : Traffic was disrupted on the National Highway 66 near the Kaup Hale Mariamma Temple dwara on May 13, Monday following a head on collision between a car and a lorry.

However, those in the car had a miraculous escape in the mishap. If the car was heading towards Mangalore from Udupi, the lorry was moving towards Udupi from Mangalore. The impact of the collision was that the lorry swerved to the side of the road, while the sulphur in the lorry remained scattered.

If the reckless driving of the car driver is blamed for the accident, the presence of mind o the lorry drive has been appreciated. The lorry swerved to the roadside after the driver applied a sudden brake. This reduced the impact of the collision.

Kaup police rushed to the spot and helped in restoring traffic to normalcy.
