Kodavoor: A group of about 20 devout Gujerati Muslim tourists in Udupi district for sight-seeing, wanted to pay their obeisance at Kalmath Jamia Masjid at Pallikidda in Kodavoor on their Friday namaz visit, but some local miscreants at once surrounded them to prevent an entrance, without knowing who they were.
The Sangh Parivar local members added fuel to the fire they created, by accusing the tourists as anti-social elements.
Udupi police arrived to disperse the unruly crowds and maintained peace. Ravi Kumar, SP, asked the tourists to leave the area in dignity.
The mosque’s managing committee has accused a group of Hindu community, of attempts to prevent a new building for the mosque coming up.
