Bangalore: The Bharath Bundh call given by NDA and its ally parties on May 31, Thursday condemning the petrol price hike has resulted in violence in Bangalore and other districts of the state. In Roopena Agrahara some miscreants set ablaze four BMTC buses on the night of May 30, Wednesday itself resulting in suspension of BMTC bus services in the city completely.
The car and bike bound assailants set ablaze BMTC buses by pouring kerosene over them at around 1.30 am. Even the bus drivers and conductors have been attacked by the assailants. Even in Hubli, assailants have set ablaze a KSRTC bus.
BMTC officials have said there were no chances of commencing bus services until seven in the evening. The general public is greatly affected as autos too are off the roads along with buses.
The BJP workers were seen forcibly closing down shops and business establishments in the city and cases of several buses being stoned at Jayanagar, Malleshwaram and old airport road have been reported.
The entire capital is wearing deserted look and holidays have been declared even to software companies, schools and colleges. Police have stepped up vigil and heavy security arrangements are in place to prevent any further untoward incident.
