Mangaluru: Just three days before the scheduled visit of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to Dakshina Kannada, some miscreants set fire inside the CPI(M) office at Thokottu on Wednesday night.
The fire destroyed the flex banners and pamphlets related to Saturday’s rally. It is said that they broke open the door and entered the office.
The Ullal police visited the spot and conducted investigations.
CM Pinarayi Vijayan is scheduled to visit Mangaluru on February 25 to attend a communal harmony rally organised by the CPI(M); however, the BJP and right-wing outfits have opposed his visit saying that it would lead to political unrest in the district.
Opposing the Chief Minister’s visit, a bandh has been called for on Saturday; also a protest march will be held on February 24, it is learnt.
