Udupi: A decomposed body of a man who was gone missing found at Bikriguttu near Padebettu in Padubidri here on Friday May 8.
The police have identified the man as Raja Patel, son of Rukurma Patel, a resident of Kanameshwar in Jevargi in Kalaburagi who had attend a cousin’s wedding on April 17.
Raja Patel had been working in UPCL since two years under contractor basis. He took leave to attend a cousin’s wedding On April 17, and went to a relative’s house in Lingappaiahkadu, He could not reached to Padubidri.
His relatives have filed a missing complaint at Padubidri police station on the same day.
The next day locals searched in the area and found the dead body. The body was identified on the basis of the clothes and footwear found. They later informed it to the police, it is said.
Sources said that the police have questioned a man staying in a rented house in Kanchinadaka who is also a labour of UPCL.
The parts of the body was scattered all over the place shows that wild animals might have eaten some parts of the body. A nylon rope was found around the neck of the body and the head was covered with a plastic, this gives an impression that Raja Patel might have been murdered said a local person.
Kaup circle inspector Sunil Nayak, Karkala DySP Vinay Nayak, Padubidri inspector Ajmat Ali, Manipal forensic expert Dr Ashwin Kumar and other officials visited the spot and conducted investigations.
