Mangalore : MLA N Yogesh Bhat, speaking at the Janaspandana programme held at Town Hall on December 4, Saturday, said that the State government has decided to establish a citizen service centre in each taluk in future and it has been sanctioned.
Further the sub roads in the city will be improved and given similar importance given to the main roads and Government has sanction the fund of Rs 40 lakhs to each place, out of the amount of Rs 15 crore sanctioned for the development of inner roads, he said.
Each corporator will receive Rs 55 lakhs for the development of each ward, he added.
Hanumanth Kamath, president of Nagarika Hitharakshana Vedike came with the long list of complaints and demanded immediate answers from officials at the programme.
He congratulated CM B S Yeddyurappa and State government for sanctioning the amount of Rs 100 crore and next once again Rs 100 crore for the development work, but no work has been taken in the fund released.
He also said that, shop owners were vacated for road widening in the Carstreet area and promised to complete the work within three months, but even after one year the work has not been completed. He asked the reason for the delay in work.
In reply, MLA Yogesh Bhat said that the amount of Rs 100 crore sanctioned by the State government has been used for the concrete component, since it has been given the priority. The next released fund will be used for this purpose, he said.
Hanumanth Kamath said that, if the MCC has not taken up any decision immediately, then he will stage protest in 15 days and hold Rasta Roko in carstreet.
In order to convince him, Deputy Mayor Rajendra Kumar said that, the road work will be cleared before the carfestival and he has discussed with Commissioner in this regard.
Another person said that the MCC has given priority to concrete roads and neglected to provide space for drainage facility.
MLA said that there are problems regarding drainage in many areas and these will be discussed with the engineers and commissioner and solved together.
While other said that, the Kadri park has been neglected and after it was handed over to Women and Child development Corporation the kids train has been stopped till date, he said. MLA said that state government has released the fund of Rs 5 crore for the development and all will be taken care. He also said that the public mot not dump the waste of building materials in the dumping yard.
One of the person requested MCC Commissioner Vijayaprakash to vacate the petty shops on the road, and commissioner assured him to clear it for the convenience of the public.
