Udupi : Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA, inspected the building of the new fish market, which is under construction on the P.P.C. Road here on Friday.
Later, Mr. Madhwaraj told presspersons that the construction of the building had been taken up at a cost of Rs. 2 crore.
The engineers overseeing the construction had promised to complete the construction of the building by the end of August.
The new fish market was expected to be inaugurated in the month of September, he said.
P. Yuvaraj, President of Udupi City Municipal Council (CMC) and Amrita Krishnamurthy, CMC Vice President, were present.
Currently, the fisherwomen are selling fish at a temporary market at Beedinagudde.
The construction of the new fish market has got delayed by a year-and-a-half.
