Mangalore : Newly renovated HOPCOMS mart (Horticultural Producers’ Co-operative Marketing and Processing Society Ltd) inaugurated at Karangalpady market on July 6, Saturday.
Speaking after inaugurating the HOPCOMS, MLA J R Lobo said that after establishing the shops and markets, it maintenance is very important. He also said that this is one of the oldest markets of Mangalore.
The HOPCOMS mart at Karangalpady has been renovated at a cost of Rs 2.5 crores utilizing funds sanctioned under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, informed Joe Pradeep D’Souza, Managing director of DK HOPCOMS.
Ravichandra Shetty, HOPCOMS Manager, who also spoke on the occasion, said the government had sanctioned funds for the renovation of eight HOPCOMS marts in 2012-13 and added five have already been renovated.
HOPCOMS President K Lakshminarayana Udupa, Corporator Ashok DK, HOPCOMS Vice President Panduranga Hegde and others were present at the function.
