Mangalore : Mangalore South MLA JR Lobo visited the Gandhi Park at Gandhinagar in Mangalore on June 21, Friday and ha a firsthand account of the problems confronting the Park.
He interacted with the President of the Gandhinagar Park Trust Prabha Kudva and other office bearers to know the problems facing the park.
RC Naik, one of the members, said the MCC was not maintaining the park and that the lights were not working. Complaints to the MCC has been of no avail, he said.
The park also lacks security, he said and added the Trust lacks funds to maintain the park.
Prabha Kudva, President of the Trust, said there is a need for the MCC officials to visit the park regularly to inspect its condition.
Later the MLA asked Deputy Commissioner of Development, Balakrishna to look into the problem and do the needful.
He said the park has been maintained by the locals under the Trust and admitted that the MCC had not shown any interest in developing the parks.
He said even the Valencia and Kadri Parks are not well maintained.
MCC in-Charge Commissioner Srikanth, Manjunath, Environmental Engineer and others were present.
