New Delhi: In a strong and path-breaking judgment given on Friday in favour of MLAs of Karnataka who are in wilderness since the day they were disqualified by speaker Bopaiagh, the Supreme Court announced that the speaker’s action was wrong in disqualifying the 16 MLAs. It was a late victory for the MLAs but BJP gets a slap on the face after it won 3 by-polls.
Justices Altamas Kabir and Cyriac Joseph (a former CJ of Karnataka) gave the present ruling and chided the speaker for his silly action. The MLAs have taken the wind out of sail from the BJP govt which was holding victory celebrations in 3 by-polls. There will be no more by-polls for 16 seats.
Of the 16 MLAs, 11 be3longed to BJP and 5 were rebels outside BJP. They had gone into wilderness since Oct.2010. They had even disconnected from BJP so long.
