Mangalore : The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has increased the bus fares for various destinations from Saturday midnight.
Further the passengers travelling from Mangalore-Manipal will have to pay the additional Rs 10 on the bus fare, whereas Mangalore-Mulky passengers will have to bear Rs 5 on their ticket fare.
As the bus fares of the general buses were hike by 7.96, the buses like Rajahamsa and Volvo also hiked the fare under general category.
According to the KSRTC officials the of volvo buses plying between Mangalore-Udupi have also increased the fare up to Rs 5, since there is stiff competition from private buses, plying on same route.
The sudden hike in the Volvo bus fare will put the passengers in problem, who used to enjoy the travel to Udupi by shelling Rs 85 will now have to pay Rs 95. Further it is left to the passengers, whether they would prefer travelling in air conditioned Volvo by paying more or travel in private buses to save the money by beating the heat.
