Mangalore : Vivek Express, a mobile exhibition train, which depicts Swami Vivekananda’s life and message, arrived at Mangalore Central Railway station on August 5, Friday.
The event inaugurated by garlanding the photo of Swami Vivekananda. Speaking on the S.K.Raina, Divisional Railway Manager, Palakkad said that the mobile train which has two compartment has traveled 79 station till now and targets to reach 44 more station and 8 states.
He also said that Railway Minister Mamatha Banerjee has flagged off the exhibition and will cover major station. The exhibition will be kept open for public viewing till August 7 from 10 am to 6pm.
The department aims to cover the 40 more station in two months. Around 6 lakhs people have visited the exhibition so far. The people of Mangalore will get the glimpse of contribution and achievements and life of Swami Vivekananda in the exhibition.
Swami Jitakamanandaji, President of Ramakrishna Math, said that the mobile exhibition will cover 40 more stations and it will inspire the youths in more number. The mobile exhibition was organized by Railway department and Ramakrishna Mutt.
Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat said that Swami Vivekananda was the role model to the people of foreign countries. Indian came to know about his greatness through foreigners, he said.
This train will be kept at Mangalore Central station VIP siding for three days. The venue also exhibited the books and photos of life and achievements of Swami Vivekananda.
K C Naik, of KCCI and member of Vivek express reception committee welcomed the guests and gathering.
Shri Alok Mohan, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Mangalore, Shri T.C.Shivasankara Murthy, Vice-Chancellor of Mangalore University, Assistant commissioner Prabhulinga Kavalakatti, M B Puranik and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
