Mangalore: District and Sessions court Judge H R Deshpande, inaugurated the Mobile van court and Mobile public Court campaign for 3 days to revolve around Mangalore Taluk in the premises of JMF Court on Jan 13, Thursday.
The campaign has been jointly organized by Police Department, Revenue Department and Zilla Panchayath.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the mobile van court was started in the city on January 18, 2010, which has brought a great relief to the rural people, as it conveniences them from the hectic frequent trips to the districts court and high court to attend hearings every time the case is adjourned and the petitioner is summoned for the next hearing.
The mobile van court initiative has created greater awareness about the judicial system among the rural masses. It has saved their hard-earned money, as it has been rendering justice at their doorsteps. The van is equipped with all the basic facilities like rest room, sitting room, toilet and so on. The van is revolving around from last 15 days and will cover the Mangalore Taluk in the last phase.
He also said that, this campaign was also done last year, but this year it will reach the villages which were not covered previously and provide leagal knowledge to the rural masses.
SP Chengappa, president of Mangalore Bar Association, said that the mobile court will almost solve the cases which can be solved through talks and discussions.
Superintendent of Police, Dr A Subramanyeshwar Rao, there is lack of legal knowledge in villages. These kinds of awareness programmes must be more publicized and police department will render full support, he said.
