Mangaluru: The efforts of the opposition parties to defeat the BJP will not succeed as the people will never forget the Congress government which has offered them Anna Bhagya, said Ivan D’Souza, MLC and Chief Whip of State legislative Council.

Speaking to reporters at the Congress Office at Mallikatta on May 10, Thursday, he accused Prime Minister Modi and BJP President Amit Shah of creating confusion in the minds of the people through their conflicting statements.

Referring to the PM’s claim that the law and order machinery in the state has collapsed, Ivan questioned if that was the case what was the Prime Minister doing all the while. He said the Congress will win all the 13 seats in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.

He also pointed out that the JD(S) which was claiming to be a secular party has not given ticket to a Christian candidate. He said though Muslims and Christians accounted to 17% and 3% of the population of the state respectively both the BJP and JD(S) have not fielded any candidate from these communities.
