Mangalore: M. Veerappa Moily on a visit to Mangalore on Thursday to fulfill an engagement in city, told press persons at the circuit House that Karnataka was another name for corruption as its sanctuary. All the world over, people were watching this state steeped in illegal wealth. He is here to address a Business Development Summit in the afternoon at Kodialbail Convention Centre today (Jan 5), as a local leader.
He accused the ruling BJP Government of a lack of will, to suggest a new name for Lokayukta, other than those rejected by state Governor, who knew better. If this government wanted a Lokayukta, he would have been appointed months ago. He advised DVS Gowda to give up an adamant silly attitude, for the benefit of people who want a Lokayukta in state, since Sept 2011.
About the suspended Lokpal Bill in adjourned Parliament session, he said it will be re-introduced in Budget session. Of 40 proposals made by Team Anna, Moily admitted that 34 were accepted.
He blamed Team Anna for the fiasco about Lokpal Bill, in view of politicking. On targeted Violence bill, he recalled threats received from RSS/BJP and others showing anarchy in Karnataka.
He also referred Youth Festival from the centre, to hold it in city soon.
