Udupi: Heavy rains which the district has been experiencing since the past few days, has claimed two lives on August 28, Tuesday.

In an incident reported from Matapady near Brahmavar, an aged man Anand Rama (61) slipped and fell into a pond while he had been to his garden to collect coconuts.

In another incident, Vinod S Bangai of Gulbarga who had been to swim in Malpe beach was washed away by the huge tidal waves. Malpe police have registered a case of unnatural death.
