Udupi : There is a need for the government to extend more patronage to the theatre field which effectively portrays the cultural ethos of the land, said Anand K, Associate Vice President of Manipal Media Network Ltd.
He was speaking at the Rashtriya Ranga Habba programme organised by Sumanasa Kodavur at Bhujanga Park here on February 26, Tuesday.
If a film is ready after several cuts and retakes, that is not the case with a drama, where an artiste has to express himself meaningfully in a single take. Theatre artistes need encouragement, he added.

Agrahara Bhasker Bhat, Manager of Syndicate Bank Manipal Branch, presided over the function.
