Udupi : The mortal remains of Dr. V. S. Acharya, the district-in-charge minister of Udupi and state higher education minister, was brought to Mangalore by special flight and was taken in a procession to Udupi on Feb 14 Tuesday.
Dr. V. S. Acharya, died in the morning of Feb 14 Tuesday with a heart attack while attending a seminar organized by a college in Bangalore and collapsed when he was walking toward the dais.
The body of Acharya was first brought to Mangalore Airport at 6:50 p.m., and later taken to Udupi by road for the last rites.
Speaking to reporters at Mangalore Airport, former CM B. S. Yeddyurappa expressed his condolences and said that he was shocked.

Acharya; Shobha Karandlaje, the state energy minister; Murgesh Nirani, the industries minister; MLA Abhayachandra Jain; Raghupathi Bhat, the Udupi MLA; Praveen, the mayor of Mangalore; Padmanabha Kottari; Shrikar Prabhu, the president of the BJP unit of Mangalore; Corporator Naveen D’Souza; Ivan D’Souza, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) secretary; and many others were also present.
