Udupi: The mortal remains of Jacintha Saldanha, the nurse at London’s King Edward VII Hospital, who allegedly committed suicide after she attended a prank call at the hospital, were laid to rest at the Our Lady of Health Church, Shirva on December 17, Monday. Hundreds of people including family, friends, relatives and well-wishers had gathered at the Church premises.
Ronald Saldanha, a family friend, paid a touching tribute to the sol of Jacintha.
Earlier the funeral cortege of Jacinth left the family residence to the church. However, the media was disallowed from covering the proceedings inside the church.
Later, addressing a press meet, Steven Almeida, a family friend from UK said Benedict Barboza, Jacintha’s huband has conveyed his gratitude to the people and media for supporting the family at the time of their grief. He said nothing could be commented on the Jacintha case as it was under investigation.
He was thankful to all the authorities in India as well as Britain as well as local elected representatives for the help extended to the family.
