Bangalore: When Opposition Congress leader Motamma was speaking on Tuesday (March 1), Excise Minister Renukacharya intervened rather spiritedly. Former Law Minister M.C.Nanaiah from Kodagu made fun of him, saying that he could do well as a Mathadipathi in saffron dress. The entire house burst into laughter.
Nanaiah went onto say that the minister could get many disciples as a monk in a monastery. But when the excise minister asked the MLA whether he would be disciple, Nanaiah asked for time.
Motamma
Motamma continuing her speech, twitted the government on keeping Rs.50 crores in the Budget for Christians, to get over the curses relating to Church attacks in 2008. She also felt that it may form a vote bank (of Christians) for the coming elections. But Renukacharya repudiated the suggestion, saying that the govt. had lot of sympathy for Christians in the agony over church attacks. He accused Congress of playing “vote bank” politics before elections.
