Mangalore :  A three year old girl had a miraculous escape while her mother died after her mother Padmini jumped  into a well  along with her in an apparent bid to commit suicide. The incident was reported from Hosakaveri near Kinnigoli on July 1, Sunday.

The woman who died is Padmini (28), while Shivani, her three year old daughter survived.

Padmini’s husband Chandrahas Shettigar who earlier worked in Mumbai was running a flower stall in Haleyangady since some time.  It is suspected that harassment by in-laws was the reason for the extreme step. The Padmini Chandrahas couple lived along with  Chandrahas’s brother in law Mohan and his wife Geeta.

Mulki police are conducting investigations.
