Mangaluru : Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel has directed the officials of NHAI to complete works on overbridge on National Highway 66 at Baikampady and open it for traffic by November 20.
The work is a part of the B C Road-Surathkal Port Connectivity Project. Speaking at a review meet of railway works here on Saturday, he said that the work should be completed at the earliest to ease the traffic. The official said that the work on laying the bitumen road is under progress.
The MP directed the Mysuru railway division officials to submit a report on encroachment upon railway property in Bantwal to the Additional DC, in order to take measures to clear encroachment.
Gopakumar from Mysuru railway division complained that garbage and sand is dumped on railway land in Bantwal and even a small portion of land has been encroached upon. “Tender has been invited for laying 170-metre road to Puttur railway station. Platform extension work has been sanctioned for Bantwal station. The work will be completed by February. Tender has been invited for the work on road and toilet at Edamangala station,” he added.
The MP said that the State government has promised to share 50 per cent of the cost for the proposed RoB/RuB at Adyar Kemmanjoor.
The MP directed the railway and NHAI officials to visit the spot where Railway underbridge (RuB) is coming up at Padil and submit a report on its completion.
The NHAI official said that the concrete elements (for constructing the RuB with box-pushing method) are ready at the site. Member of Legislative Assembly, Lobo said that the Padil Junction needs to be repaired at the earliest to avoid mishaps on the stretch.
He appealed to the railways to give approval for the concretisation of road at Kannagudde. “A sum of Rs one crore has been earmarked. The MP has promised to give Rs 10 lakh for the purpose. Once approved, the work will be initiated by the MCC. The railways should give permission for asphalting road at Kongooru mutt at an estimated cost of Rs 63 lakh,” he added.
