Mangalore : Kannada Nudi Teru jatha, Organized by Kannada Development Authority, Bangalore in association with Dakshina Kannada district administration arrived Mangalore Town Hall on October 14, Friday.
Speaking after inaugurating the event, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that he is happy to inaugurate the Kannada Nudi Teru but at the same time he is sad because in spite of being a state of Kannadigas, the department must work to protect and preserve it.
He also said that Mukhyamantri Chandru’s effort must become inspiration to the people of the state and also interest them to protect the Kannada language and culture.
Kannada Development Authority chairman Mukhyamantri Chandru, said that the Teru will visit three places today. He also said that Kannada is the official language of Karnataka, but large number of non Kannada speaking people.
CM D V Sadananda Gowda is from Karnataka and now he is living with the people where 68 percent of them are non Kannadigas.
He said that the Authority does not say only to preserve and protect the Kannada language but also respect other language too. We find many types of Kannada in Karnataka and every language is important, he said.
Deputy Speaker in the Legislative Assembly N. Yogish Bhat presided over the event.
Vishnu Naik, member convener of Authority delivered the introductory speech. Mangala Naik of Kannada and Cultural Department welcomed the gathering.
ZP president K T Shailaja Bhat, Deputy Mayor Geetha Nayak, Taluk Panchayath president Bhavya Poojary, MLA U T Khader, Annayya Kulal, MCC commissioner Harish Kumatr were present.
