Puttur: The BJP leaders assembled to greet the new CM, DVS Gowda at Maniadka helipad on Tuesday, October11 on his way to Ishwaramangala got involved in an argument with DK police officials like SP Labhu Ram, who raised the question of safety in the presence of Mangalore MP Nalinkumar, and also brushed aside DK secretary Sanjeeva Mathandoor and other BJP office bearers at the helipad, to protect CM about to descend from a helicopter. SP’s firm disciplinary action of stopping the advancing BJP leaders, invited the wrath of DK BJP chief Padmanabha Kottari, secretary Devdas Shetty, Puttur TP former chief chanila Thimmappa Shetty, G K Herle and others.
They were not allowed into the helipad, so protests were made, and MP Nalinkumar criticised the police, who could not find out who killed commando Mahadev Mane in the Manjal forests on Sunday last were now obstructing BJP leaders, in his high voice under agitation.
The police tried to offer explanations but BJP men would not listen and went out of helipad to receive the CM there. DC Channappa Gowda failed to persuade them. Later, CM on being informed of the situation, brought peace among his party members.
