Mangalore : The MRPL road constructed under Grameen Sadak Yojana worth Rs One crore, will be taken back for the public use since, the MRPL have taken the land covereing the road, said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.
Explaining the various rural development and Panchayath Raj schemes at progress report meeting held at the Zilla Panchayath, he said that the government has sent the letter to MRPL six months back, but they have failed to reply. They must not take government property in the name of development, Hence they must clearly state whether they are ready to leave the road or construct other alternative way for the public.
Shivashankar, CEO of Zilla Panchayath, said that most of the people have become the job card holder; hence the system has been made, where the people who want job card will have to submit the photo validation to the panchayat to avoid forgery.
The proposal has been sent to central government to identify the existing roads of rural area at the Taluk Level under the Pradhan Manthri Gram Sadak Yojana. A total of 1351 roads have to be made in a proposed length of 3493. The proposals have been sent to make 508 roads of length 1052 kms in Mangalore, while 299 roads of 999.95 kms in Belthangady, 325 roads of 692.17 kms in Bantwal, 107 roads of 298.9 kms in Puttur and 112 roads of 449.9 kms in Sullia.
He also said that the copies of the list of roads identified for the development under the District Rural Road Plan, will have to given to Zilla Panchayath, Taluk Panchayath, MLA’s and MP so that some of the roads taken for development will not be repeated by different schemes.
The engineer of water department said that the installation of pressure water filter of worth Rs 14 lakhs will filter the river side water when it reaches the house through the corporation taps. In reply, Nalin Kumar stated them to take the suggestion of the executive engineer on the matter.
Stating on the report of horticulture department, the in charge, said that the deputy commissioner has sealed three godowns, which comprises of pesticides worth 10 lakhs. The investigation will be conducted only after the seal is opened in three or four days.
The report of the year 2009- 2010 on the Employment Generated up to the month of march, Swarna Jayanthi Gram Swarozgar Scheme, Indira Awas Yojana and drinking water schemes in the taluk like Bantwal, Belthangady, Mangalore, Puttur and Sullia was discussed through out the meeting conducted for about four and half hours.
Zilla Panchayath president Santhosh Kumar Bhandary and Jagannath Salian vice president of Zilla Panchayath were present at the meeting.
