Mangalore : The apprentices of Mangalore Refineries and Petro Chemicals Ltd (MRPL) have decided to file a contempt of court case against the company for doing injustice while appointment of apprentices and engineers.
Speaking to reporters,BS Chandru, President of Noukarara Hitarakshana Vedike and MRPL Apprentice Graduates’ Engineers Unit said the MRPL has violated Supreme Court ruling during the recruitment of trained apprentices in the company.
He said the orders of the Labour and employment ministry, govt. of India (Order no. DGET/50(2)/95 AD dated 15th march 1996 and Supreme Court on January 12, 1995 (Order No. AIR 995, SC-115) has been clearly mentioned that, 50% of recruitment should be done on reservation to the apprentices.He said the MRPL has recruited 70 graduated engineers from 2008 to June 2013. This is clear evidence to violation of the court orders.
Leaders of the Association, Dharmendra, Ajit Kumar K, Padmanabha Ullal and others were present on the occasion.
