Mangalore: The woes of MSEZ multiply day by day with people’s anger against its atrocities for survival. The illegal filling of Gurpur river with mud,to widen a road near Kuloor river at Melu Koppala and Athrebail by workers sent by MSEZ authorities, created a controversy that reached its climax on Wednesday, May 2, When 75 residents of the affected areas near the river, picketed at Ashoknagar office of MSEZ, demanding removal of mud dumped in to the river to raise roadside.
A resident of Athrebail, Gulabi expressed her fears of her house on the roadside getting washed away by man-made snap floods. She was supported by a neighbouring Woman of 65 years, both of whom came out to fight MSEZ
The seige of MSEZ office on 3rd floor of MUDA building continued for 4 hours in the afternoon. Urwa SI Gopal Kotapady intervened and assured protestors of suitable action at 5Pm on May 3, in their favour. Then the protestors agreed to vacate the place.
