Mangalore : Prof. TC Shivashankera Murthy, Vice Chancellor of Mangalore  University informed press persons at a meeting held in campus in Sunday that the prestigious  Indira Gandhi National Service Scheme (IGNSS) Award for 2013 has been awarded to Mangalore University , in view of its multifaceted activities concerning national service in all these 33 years it has been in existence.
 
The award will be presented to MU by Dr. Pranab Mukherjee at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan  in New Delhi on November 19.

Dr Gananatha Yekkar , the national service scheme Co-ordinator, was very happy on the recognition of MU for the NSS award.  For the next 3 year Dr Vineetha Rao  will be co- ordinator(2016)
