Mangaluru: Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha the Bishop of Mangalore will bless and preside over the Muhurath of Kannada T.V. Serial ‘Miracles of Saint Anthony’ on 30 th November at Saint Anthony’s Ashram Jeppu at 7 p.m.
Rev Fr Onil D’Souza the director of Saint Anthony’s Ashram briefed the media at the Press club on November 28, Wednesday.
Saint Anthony was born in the 12 th Century in Portugal and worked in the 13 th Century and died at the young age of 36. A true follower of Jesus and committed to his vocation Saint Anthony preached and performed number of miracles in the name of Jesus. The phrase thirteen miracles goes along with the name of Saint Anthony as synonymous. He is also known as the Saint of impossible meaning to say that impossible things become possible through his intercession.
He is specially invoked when things are lost. The devotion of Saint Anthony has been in existence in Mangalore for more than a century. There are devotees of Saint Anthony around the world who visit the Shrine at Milagres Church and also Saint Anthony’s Ashram which takes care of 400 destitute at Jeppu.
A T.V. serial has been planned in Kannada on the life and miracles of Saint Anthony so that people around the globe can view the same and benefit from the devotion of Saint Anthony. Saint Anthony’s Ashram Jeppu will be the producer of the serial. Mr Vincent Fernandes of ‘Mogachi Lahra’ fame is the Director and will do the Cienematography. Mr John M. Permannur has written the Script.. Around 140 people will be acting in the serial.
Mr U.T. Khader, Honourable Minister, Govt of Karnataka will be the Chief Guest for the Muhurath, Mr Ivan D’Souza, M.L.C. Karnataka State Legislative Council; Mr J.R. Lobo former M.L.A. Mangalore South and Ashwin Pereira producer of ‘Asathoma Sadgamaya’ movie will be the Guests of Honour. Film actors- Mr Ramesh Bhat, Mrs Vinaya Prasad, Mrs Asha Latha and Ms Vamshi will feature as guest appearance.
