Manjeshwar:  Mushrat Jahan of Muslim League was elected President of the Manjeshwar Gram Panchayat at the elections held on September 27, Thursday. She won by 12 votes thanks to a vote each from a BJP and SDPI members. Her opponent Vinaya Bhasker of BJP got seven votes.

If Tulsidas of the BJP cross voted even another lady member of SDPI too cross voted in favour of Mushrat. It is learnt, due to a mutual understanding the SDPI member cast her vote in favour of Mushrat following a promise to make her the head of the standing committee.
