Mangaluru: Various Muslim organisations condemned the Central move to file affidavit to abolish triple talaq to the Supreme Court, on Thursday.
In a press conference held under the banner of Udupi and DK districts Central Committee, committee President Al Haj K S Muhammad said that the constitution has given the right to the citizen to follow their respective religion and the laws of their religion. Muslim community condemns the interference of the Central government and the court in this matter.
“TO interfere in the Shariyat law, the Central government has chose talaq matter. If there is something wrong in talaq, then the community priests will correct it. If someone has been the victims of injustice, then we are ready to compensate them. There is no need of amending the constitution and there is no need of interfering in the Shariyat law,” he said.
He further said that women can also give divorce through ‘Khula’; it is not the men only who are having this feasibility. Muslim Personal Law Board has called all the Muslims to object the move of Central government.
“Everywhere signatures are being collected against the amendment in the constitution and the abolition of talaq practice. Even the same process is going on in Udupi and DK districts also,” he added.
Committee Vice-President Ibrahim Kodijal, UNIWEF President Rafiudhin Kudroli, Haji K M Shareef, Yahya Nakhvi, Saadudhin M Sali and others were present.
