Mangalore : The Muslim Central Committee, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, condemned the recent assaults on Muslim youth by communal outfits and has appealed the people of region to maintain peace and harmony afoot of religious festivals like Dussehra and Eid-ul-Adha.
Speaking at the press meet on September 22, Monday committee president KS Mohammed Masood said that lot of youths are been attacked in the twin districts along communal lines to disrupt peace and harmony in the society. The youths are targeted merely on the basis of their religion in the cases of cattle trafficking.
Masood, condemned the controversial statement made by BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj stating that madrasas promoted terrorism. He urged the elected representatives to refrain them from making inflammatory statements to disrupt communal harmony.
The committee also condemned the assault on six Muslim youth from an engineering college by Bajrang Dal activists and mass picket by the same outfit in front of a police station.
He also appreciated Prime Minister Modi’s statement on Indian Muslims willing to live and die for the country and said that Muslim community wanted peace.
