Mangalore: State fisheries minister from Moodabidre, Abhayachandra Jain and South city MLA J R Lobo were guests of central Muslim Committee in DK district at the committee office in Mangalore on Wednesday morning, Dec.25. a cake was cut symbolically for the pleasure of Merry Christmas and communal amity, and pieces were distributed to the dignitaries attending the celebration today.
Speaking on the occasion, vice president of the local committee Ibrahim Kodichal said that the Muslims and Christians of the coastal region and undivided DK district had always remained in harmony and communal friendship. If one religion celebrates the festivities of another religion such a communal fellow-feeling would exist in the area, and there will be no tension in society.
J R Lobo replying to felicitations told the gathering that the communities in DK and Udupi whether Muslim or Jain Or Christian had co-operated with the each other in trade, production and development activities all these years. Outside India the 3 religions- Muslim, Jewish Judaism), Muslim and Christian religions had sprang from the same soil, in and around Jerusalem or the holly city. In India the Jain, Buddhist and other religions born and developed in any area had existed in peas and contentment without acrimony. He hoped that Muslims will celebrate Christmas and Christians will celebrate Id-E-Milad together in years to come as sign of respect for mutual faiths in god.
Committee member Hameed Kandak observed that harmony will prevail among different religions if they realized the essence of religious beliefs in common and held each other in a spirit of tolerance.
