Mangalore : The newly formed DK District Congress Muslim leaders Forum which convened an emergency meeting here on October 11, Friday demanded immediate steps to end moral policing on the pretext of cattle smuggling. The meeting was convened following the recent attack on five cattle transporters in the outskirts of the city recently.
Former mayor K Ashraf who addressed the meet held at Zeenath Baksh Yatim Khana said moral policing incidents were on the rise despite the Congress government in power both at the Centre and state. Though leaders have been warning of dealing moral policing with an iron hand, nothing much is happening.
B Ibrahim, former MP, leaders including KPCC minority wing vice-president U K Monu, ZP Member M S Mohammed, Congress block committee President Abbas Ali and others were present. However, some prominent Muslim leaders like MLA Moidin Bava, former minister Mohammad Masood and DK District Congress Interim President Ibrahim Kodijal were absent.
