Mangalore : A delegation of Muslim leaders led by Shaikh Latif, Haj Committee Executive Officer met Deputy Commissioner N Prakash and has made a request to provide land for construction of a Haj Ghar in Mangalore.
The delegation submitted a memorandum to the DC which pointed out that a 2.18 acre land has been identified at Kenjar for the purpose. They said there was much more ned for a Haj Ghat considering the fact that the number of Haj pilgrims increased every year.
It may be recalled here that earlier Haj camps used to be held in the old terminal building and now with a cargo terminal coming up there, no space is permissible for haj camps.
Those in the delegation including KS Mohammad Masood, Muslim Central Committee President, Yenepoya Mohammad Kunhi, Usman Haji, Wakf Advisory Council President and others.
