Mangaluru: The programme related to Shariya law which was supposed to be organised on November 15 has been postponed due the continuation of prohibitory section 144 in the district.
Speaking to the media personnel Muslim Central Committee President Mohammed Masood, on Monday said that the commissioner has extended the CrPC section 144 in the district for no reason. Untoward incidents had taken place at Ullal and the section has been imposed in the city also.
“I informed all the thirty Muslim organisations about the postponing of the programme after police approached me to do so. Some resisted postponing the programme, but I requested them to cooperate with the police and not to create any chaos,” he said.
Further he said that it was supposed to be a huge gathering. Nearly 50000 people would have joined the gathering. Police unnecessarily target Muslim youth for any untoward incidents and the community didn’t want to take risk.
Ibrahim Kodijal, Abuakka, B H Qader, Mohammed Monu, Hamid Kudroli and others were present.
