Bhatkal:  Various Muslim organizations of Bhatkal have threatened to resort to severe protest if action was not taken against a Kannada daily which had published a report which tarnished the image of Bhatkal and the Muslim populace of the region.

The representatives of various Muslim organizations of Bhatkal led by the social organization of Bhatkal, Mijlis-e-Islah-o-Tanzeem, held conversations with the Additional SP of Uttar Kannada District a nd said the report was false and misleading and aimed at creating mistrust between people of different communities.

The report it it said, had accused some Muslim Associations of Bhatkal of harbouring terrorists and encouraging terrorism in the nation.

The Associations have also warned of resorting to a Bhatkal bundh if action was not taken against the daily and its reporter.

The memorandum was accepted by the additional SP Subhash Gudimane in the absence of the district SP. The AC of Bhatkal VRP Manohar, Asst SP of Bhatkal Sudheer Reddy and Additional SP Subhash Gudimane  have also assured that legal action will be taken against the offenders.
