Mangalore : As many as 900 students studying from first to tenth standards and hailing from economically backward families were distributed books on behalf of the Jammiyatul-Sa-Ada ( Mutton Merchants Association) at Kudroli here on June 4, Tuesday.
VT Subrahmanya, Inspector in Bunder police station, urged the students to strive hard to excel in academics as knowledge is one wealth that will be with an individual all through his life.
PV Mohan, AICC Member, who was also a chief guest, called upon students to inculcate the habit of reading.
Ali Hassan, State Vice President of Mutton Merchants Association, said students hailing from rural areas and Kannada medium schools have been given preference while selecting beneficiaries.
