Mangalore : MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has come down heavily on the statement of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah that the government intended to take over the administration of Sri Krishna Mutt of Udupi as well as the Mahabaleshwara Temple of Gokarna.
It may be recalled here that in an interview to Outlook Magazine, Siddaramaiah had revealed the above aspects. The CM had told in the report that the religious shrines belonged to the people and therefore should be brought under government control.
Coming down sharply, Nalin said going by the CM’s statements, he seems to be interested in playing with the sentiments of the people. “Mutts have their own tradition and each has a unique identity and it is wrong to bring them under government control.
He also stated that the BJP would organize a massive protest if the government goes ahead with its plans.
