Mangalore : Namma Angadi, an initiative of Namma Bhoomi, NGO of Kundapur, was inaugurated at St Aloysius college auditorium on March 22, Friday by Rohini K, District Information Officer. Namma Angadi is an exhibition-cum-sale of handicrafts, handloom and eco-friendly products by rural artisans.
In her address, Rohini K while lauding the initiative of the organisers said there is a need for the younger generation to be more enlightened on rural life
Padmanabha Gowda, Assistant Conservator of Forests, Mangalore sub-division, who was the chief guest, emphasized the need to uphold rural traditions, culture and art.
Shivananda, incharge of the exhibition, Laxmi Shenoy from the department of Mass Communication & Media Studies were on the dais.
Among the various items on display were Terracota products, ethnic jewellery, wild honey, curtains, bedspreads, kokum, Shikakai, wooden furniture, kurtas for men and women, clothe and jute bags.
