Mangalore : In the day of lighting festival hundreds of colourful lanterns ‘Goodu Deepa’ Attracted in Kudroli Shree Gokarnanatheshwara Temple on Tuesday October 21.
City mayor Mahabala Maarla inaugurated the 15th annual Goodu Deepa competition of Namma Kudla at temple’s premises.
Inaugurating the competition Maarla said, lanterns light dispel all darkness of the life, it brings more brightness to life, Namma Kudla organized a beautiful lighting festival here, It should be continue to give light every year.
He also said that, sky lantern brings more brightness to Diwali and it must brighten each and every one’s life. Hosting such events annually help to protect the traditional preparation of Goodudeepa by the family which unites for a good purpose.
Anand K, associate vice-president of Udayavani said that it is blissful to celebrate Diwali by gathering all the sky lanterns at one place.
The Goodudeepa competition was held in three categories – traditional, modern and special models.
Kadri Navneet welcomed the guests. Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli proposed the vote of thanks.
H S Sairam, president, Kudroli Temple, Damodar Nisarga, A C Bhandari, Raghavendra Kulur, B G Suvarna, B P Karkera, Namma Kudla president, Harish B Karkera, Leelaksha B Karkera, Suresh B Karkera, Mohan B Karkera, Santhosh B Karkera and others were present on this occasion.
The competition was held in three categories of traditional, modern, and unique. Participators brought different types of lanterns to the venue. Small to Big shapes, sizes, lanterns exhibited at the premises.
One of lanterns prepared by Vignesh with the 18,400 buttons attracted in the show.
The first and second places winners in each category honored with gold medals with certificates and mementos. Consolation prizes also presented to the appreciated models.
On the same occasion, the ‘Namma Tuluver Award 2014’ the ‘Namma Kudla – Birse Award 2014’ also conferred.
