Mangalore : Kadri Navaneeth Shetty at a press conference held at Press Club on Oct 15, Saturday that the 12th annual Goodu Deepa competitions will be held in the premises of Kudroli Gokarnanatha Temple on October 23, Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
Revealing further details about the contest, he said that the competition will comprise 3 categories—traditional, modern, and unique. A gold medal each will be given to the first and second prize winners of each category. Consolation prizes will also be given for each category.
Those interesting in participate in the contest must register these names in the categories at the venue before 4:00 p.m. Participants are required to bring required materials like bulbs, holders, wires and other things necessary to make the goodu deepas, he said.
All the participants will be given a memento and a sweet box. The organization bring large number of goodu deepas will be given special prize.
Awards Ceremony
The prizes will be given away at the valedictory ceremony of the Goodu Deepa competition, which will be held at the valedictory ceremony to be held on same day at 7:00 p.m. The prestigious Namma Tuluver Award will be conferred on Dr Shantaram Shetty, vice chancellor, Nitte University. Namma Kudla 2011 Award will be conferred on dance maestro Master Vittal; and the Bala Prathibhe Award will be conferred on artiste Prihali on the occasion.
A programme titled “Tulunada Vaibhava” by Chandra Shekar Suvarna of Suvarna Arts Mulky and team will be held and dance programmes by Dinesh Attavar, Vibha Lakshmi, Mayuri Ullal, Jnaneshwari Joshi and musical programme by Kasturi will be held. The entire programme will be telecast live on V4 Live Channel.
Director Mohan Karkera and Leelaksha Karkera, and Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli were present during the press conference.
