Mangaluru: Thousands of devotees gathered in protest march, objecting derogatory post of social media against Kateel goddess from Polali Rajarajeshwari Temple to Kateel Durga PArameshwari Temple on Sunday.
March began at Polali on Sunday morning and reached Kateel at noon. Special rituals and prayers were offered to the goddess.
Addressing the gathering Rajashekharananda Swamiji of Vajradehi Math said that the derogatory posts have vexed the religious feelings of devotees.
“In ancient mythology also when there will be some threat to the gods everyone used to pray goddess. Goddess Durgi will punish the culprits,” he said.
Former muzarai minister Nagaraj Shetty, Tample Managing Trustee Vasudeva Asranna, priests Lakshminarayana Asranna, Ananthapadmanabha Asranna, Kamala Deviprasad Asranna, Sreehari Narayanadasa Nsranna, Rajesh Naik Ulippadygutthu, Satyajit Surathkal and others were present.
Nearly 5000 devotees had taken part in the march. Arrangements for drinking water were made for the devotees during the march.
A disciplined march was observed by the devotees.
The temple sources have said that more than 25,000 people had visited the temple on Sunday and the lunch was arranged for 10000 devotees.
