Mangalore : A rally was taken out from Jyothi Circle to DC office in Mangalore on September 7, Saturday by the Namma Tulunad Trust and other organizations urging the government to include Tulu in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. The rallyists later submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner.
A meeting was held in front of the DC office where several spoke. Mangalore north MLA Moidin Bava promised that the state government will leave no stone unturned in ensuring Tulu its due status.
Vamana Nandavara, former president of Tulu Sahitya Academy, who also spoke said the fight should continue to include Tulu in the Eighth Schedule of the constitution.
Harikrishna Punaroor, former Kannada sahitya parishat president said the elected representatives and politicians must have the will power to fulfill the demand.
Veteran writer Erya Lakshminarayana Alva,DK District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Sunitha Shetty, senior writer from Mumbai,. Tulu theatre personality Vijaykumar Kodialbail, GVS Ullal, Founder President of Namma Tulunad Trust and others spoke.
