Mangalore City BJP MLA, N. YOGISH BHAT, now Deputy Speaker, elected unopposed
Mangalore : It could be a sympathy Vote, may be friendly feeling, that gave N. Yogish Bhat, four times MLA of Mangalore and never a minister, unopposed support from all parties in the Karnataka legislature on Monday to take the high seat as Deputy speaker vacated by K.G Bopiah, next – door Kodagu MLA elevated as the speaker much earlier. The post of Deputy Speaker came unasked to an experienced legislative person like Bhat who actually wanted to be a minister all these years. He resigned as KSIIDC chairman on Tuesday to adorn the seat of Deputy Speaker with acclaim from Opposition benches who knew him well. Only those get elected as Speakers who are known well among all parts of legislature.
What is so special about him ? He has worked in several legislative welfare committees for the down-trodden as a member, also in city improvement, rural development, sports and games, Tourism, Kannada and culture, even public accounts committee in one capacity or the other. This rich experience had made him many friends in the Vidhana Soudha and Council sectors.
Bhat belongs to Nandavara in Bantwal Taluk near Panemangalore. He was active in Social work and Industrial investments matters. Soft-spoken, with an attractive personality, Yogish Bhat won many hearts. He is an undefeated captain in BJP circles.
