Mangaluru: Narcotic squad raided eight places including some of the top rated colleges of the city on Wednesday. A team led by Excise DySP’s Amarnath Bhandary and Shivaprasad conducted the raid.

The rid was conducted to create awareness about drugs and narcotic substances among youth and to hold back the drug threat.

The team raided the area of Sri Devi College, St Aloysius College, Shrinivas College, Valachil and Mangaluru Junction Railway Station. Police also raided the petty shops and nearby areas of the colleges.

No drugs or narcotic substance was found by the team in any of the places.

The team was divided into eight teams and the raid was conducted at a time in all the places. The team had excise inspectors and sub-inspectors also.

Excise DySP Amarnath Bhandary said that the raid was conducted on the instructions of excise DC L A Manjunath, after the meeting held with Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim.
